Château de Maupas|Château de Maupas

Château de Maupas

This private château, inhabited by the family of the Marquis de Maupas, contains memorabilia of the Duchesse de Berry and her son, the Comte de Chambord. The château is famous for its collection, the only one of its kind in France, of almost 1,000 earthenware plates adorning the main staircase.

During your visit, you can discover and taste the estate’s AOC Menetou-Salon wine. The vines and cellar are located on the hill on the other side of the road, Sauvignon for the whites and Pinot Noir for the reds. The park was restored in the 20th century by Fernand Rolin, landscape architect for the city of Bourges. A shady driveway leads to the Cour d’Honneur, where you can enjoy a superb view of the surrounding countryside and the Pays Fort landscape from the terrace.
