Chateau De Culan

Culan Castle

Built in the 12th century on a rocky spur overlooking the Arnon valley, Culan castle is a medieval jewel set in a listed natural site. It retains a feature that is rare in France: its original wooden hoardings, an exceptional defensive remnant. Long abandoned, it was acquired in 2024 by a passionate couple with the ambition of making it accessible to the public once again. The work underway is aimed first and foremost at securing the most dilapidated structures, in particular the carré tower, whose roof and framework are in danger. This emergency project, supported by the DRAC, will also involve consolidating the masonry, which is vital to the building’s survival.
