Château de Buranlure|Louis d'Hautefeuille

Buranlure Castle

Situated in the heart of the County of Sancerre, the small fortified town of Buranlure vividly evokes the tumult of history. An exceptional witness to the Hundred Years’ War and the Wars of Religion in Haut-Berry, this site steeped in history still resonates with the echoes of the past.

Owned by the Vogüé family since the 18th century, and restored to its 1640 appearance by Arnaud de Vogüé, Château de Buranlure remains an unspoilt site, steeped in the passage of time. In addition to the Château, listed as a Historic Monument in 1944, the estate also protects a number of wine-growing and ecological sites of great interest. Marguerite d’Hautefeuille, the heiress to this rich history, was given responsibility for the estate in 2019. Together with her husband, François, and their children, they aim to open the doors of Buranlure to the world, and to promote the history and terroir of the Berry region.
