Located in the heart of the County of Sancerre, the small fortified town of Buranlure vividly evokes the tumult of history. An exceptional witness to the Hundred Years’ War and the Wars of Religion in Haut-Berry, this site steeped in history still resonates with the echoes of the past.
Owned by the Vogüé family since the 18th century, and restored by Arnaud de Vogüé to its circa 1640 state, Château de Buranlure remains a preserved site, anchored in the meanders of time. In addition to the Château, classified as a Historic Monument in 1944, the estate also protects vineyard and ecological sites of great interest. Heir to this rich history, Marguerite d’Hautefeuille, has been given responsibility for the estate in 2019. Together with her husband, François, and their children, they aim to open the doors of Buranlure to the world, and to promote the history and terroir of the Berry region.
