The tragedy of the Guerry wells in the summer of 1944 - An episode of the Shoah in Berry
By Luc Martin, president of the Cercle d'Histoire et d'Archéologie du Saint-Amandois
The wells at Guerry, near Bourges, are and remain in the collective consciousness an edifying testimony to barbarity and a major event in the French Holocaust.
Thirty-six people (men, women and teenagers) were murdered because they were Jews, and thrown into the wells.
Luc Martin, President of CHASA, talks about this crime against humanity perpetrated between July 24 and August 8, 1944
